Courtney was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. and participated in Football and Basketball in high school. He graduated from Lakeland College where he also participated in Football and Track. Unfortunately, he came from a broken home, but he never looked at it that way, he stated: "my mother was exceptional at her job. Plus every adult in my family took part in raising me together."

Courtney currently facilitiates the after school group mentoring sessions, individually mentors, and supervises visits for families attempting to reunification.
